“Ilka”

Ilka came to us from Zoldmali Kennel in Hungary, at nine weeks old, in July 2020, two days before the International borders closed due to COVID-19.  This was also two days before our 2020 litter arrived.  Needless to say... we encountered a busy and unusual household that summer as the world was turned upside down. 

Ilka has been an adventure.  Living with such a deep thinker, working to stay ahead of her own ideas of how training should unfold, presents its challenges.  This is a very intelligent girl, ready to create her own problem solving.  As she has matured, Ilka has become a very affectionate and Loving dog. 

Ilka earned her NAVHDA (North American Versatile Hunting Dog Assn.) Natural Ability title at 10 months of age and her AKC Junior Hunter title by 11 months of age.  Life has created some setbacks along the way but we are still advancing in the bird field.

In the meantime, Ilka has blossomed into a beautiful representative of the Wirehaired Vizsla Breed standard, both AKC and FCI standards.  In May 2024, Ilka was awarded at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in New York as Best of Opposite Sex to Best of Breed for the Wirehaired Vizslas presented at this most prestigious show.  In 2025, Ilka was awarded Best of Breed at the Westminster Show, where she made history for the Breed for being the first and only female Wirehaired Vizsla to ever be awarded this honor.  Ilka is a multifaceted character with a big heart full of Love.
